Operating system installation in SUSE Linux 15 SP1

 SUSE LINUX OS INSTALLATION With DVD or ISO:

The following section provides instructions for installing the base operating system with HA.

 Go to the physical server BIOS option and select the BOOT ORDER OPTION like as DVD or ISO

Boot from DVD or ISO.

 

Select the installation option.

 

 

The Language and Keyboard Layout settings are initialized with the language. I choose default on the boot screen.

If you want to change the keyboard layout or language, selecting the drop-down box.

We have chosen SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Proceed with Next.

 

 

Read the License Agreement. It is presented in the language you have chosen on the boot screen.

If you do not agree to the license agreement, you cannot install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.

 

Choose a network interface from the list and click Edit to change its settings. We want to configure after OS installation. Proceed with Next.

 

 

Install the system without registration activates Skip Registration. Accept the warning with OK

And proceed with Next.

 

Select the DVD option for installation of OS packages.

 

Basesystem Module

                                    This module adds a basic system on top of the Unified Installer. It is required by all other modules and extensions. The scope of an installation that only contains the base system is comparable to the installation pattern minimal system of previous SUSE Linux Enterprise Server versions. This module is selected for installation by default and should not be deselected.

Desktop Applications Module

                        Adds a graphical user interface and essential desktop applications to the system.

SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension

                        Adds clustering support for mission critical setups to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Choose SLEHA15-1 15.1-0 to install it.

 Server-Applications-Module

                       Adds server functionality by providing network services such as DHCP server, name server, or Web server.

 

Finished selecting modules and extensions, proceed with Next

 

All modules selected for installation are listed on the Add-On Product Installation dialog. To

Change the list, use the Add or Delete options. Using Add you may optionally add other add-onProducts from different sources.

To proceed with the installation, choose Next

 

 Select the SLES GNOME environment using graphically. proceed with Next

 

To create a custom partition setup click Expert Partitioner. Select either Start with Current

Proposal if you want start with the suggested disk layout, You can Add,Edit, Resize, or Delete partitions.

 

Select Add partitions option

  

Select Custom size option and give to partition size like 1GiB. Proceed with next

 

Select the Operating System option. Proceed with next

Change file system type like BtrFS. Partition ID: Linux Native and Mount device name like as /boot.

Proceed with next.

 

Check the /boot partition creation and same procedure  for remaining partitions like as /, /opt, /home etc

 

 

Creating all partitions list and proceed with Next

 

 

select your region and time zone. Both are preselected according to the installation

language.


Creating local user and password


Creating the root (administrator) password and proceed with Next


 

Login 

Username: root

Bonding configuration

      Bonding: Two different Ethernet cards are merging to behave like single interface card. It uses for link aggregation and single Ethernet card (physical card) failure over come to this scenario   Diagram:    In this scenario, One server have two physical Ethernet card, each Ethernet cards has a two ports like as Eth0 , Eth1 and Eth2, Eth3. Now we are configuring bond0 using Eth0 and Eth2. Open to the terminal as root : # yast2 lan &     It shows how many physical Ethernet cards connected to server. Select one Ethernet card and click Add option   Go to Device Type click to Ethernet option and scroll down it shows many options.   Select the Bond option and click   Its automatically change configuration name like as bond0 and go to next   Given the Ip address and Subnetmask .
